How we look after your information

Foot In is run by John Dennehy, an employment coach, not a big company. This page explains what we keep about you, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Last updated 23 October 2026.

What we keep

  • Your account: your name, email address and password. The password is scrambled so nobody, including us, can read it.
  • Your profile: anything you add to build your CVs, such as your jobs, achievements, qualifications, skills, contact details and summary.
  • Jobs you apply for: the adverts you paste in, which achievements you picked, when you downloaded or sent a CV, and how each application went.
  • Your situation, if you tell us: whether you're working and, if not, whether you claim Universal Credit. This is optional.
  • Feedback you choose to give: if you write us a few words after a good result, we keep them and the name you chose to show with them.

Why we keep it

  • To make your CVs and keep track of your applications. That's the service.
  • To decide which tools are free for you. That's the only reason we ask about work and Universal Credit.
  • To learn what helps people get jobs. We look at things like which kinds of CV lead to interviews, and we notice when several people apply for the same advert so we can suggest you stand out. Other users never see your details.
  • To show your feedback on our website, but only if you tick the box saying we can, and only with the name you picked. You can take it back at any time.

We never sell your information, never show you adverts, and never share it with employers or the Jobcentre. If you copy your job search into your Universal Credit journal, you do that yourself.

Where it's kept

Your information is stored in a database in London, run by Neon, and the website runs on Vercel's servers in London too. Vercel is an American company, so some technical records, like server logs, may be handled in the United States under standard data protection contracts. We only use one cookie, to keep you logged in. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. You can delete anything in your profile or job list yourself whenever you like. To close your account and delete everything, email hello@footin.co.uk and we'll do it within a month.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@footin.co.uk. We'll reply within a month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
